Carpark 15

There is a pathway beside the carpark
lined up with trees.

Above pedestrians on their way home
their fingers meet.

At seven o'clock in the evening
they are at their prime.

Leaf patterns get the best backdrop
of tame white sunlight.

I wonder if they helplessly think
that the road is narrow.

Maybe more than standing tall, they need
a space to spread their arms.

But I hope they don't choose loneliness
for the sake of glory.

Impressive silhouettes have not the warmth
of this sparkling canopy.

Two rows of trees stand by the carpark
lining the quiet pathway.

Above smiles and frowns and nature unswayed
their fingers meet.
